Kenneth R. “Ken” Betsinger, age 83 of Faribault, MN passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at the Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis due to complications of COVID.

A Celebration of Life in memory of Ken will be held on Sunday, July 18, 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion Club in Faribault.  There will be a program that will start at 2:00 p.m.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to the Faribault Hospice Foundation in memory of Ken.

Kenneth Raymond, the son of Cletus and Ellen (Clancy) Betsinger, was born on April 8, 1937 in Lansing, IA.  He grew up in Lansing and graduated from Lansing High School.  He was the oldest of 11 children.  Following high school Ken served in the U.S. Army in the 82nd Airborne Division as a Paratrooper for two years.  After his honorable discharge from the service he moved to Minneapolis, MN and started working at small financial companies.

He was united in marriage to Pamela Schubert on February 5, 1966 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN.  They lived in northern Minnesota for 14 years.  Then Ken had a job offer in Faribault, MN in 1980 to come to work at Faribault Federal Savings and Loan.  So, in 1980 they moved to Faribault.  He was the President and CEO of what was later to be known at 1st United Bank.  He was employed there for 36 years and retired when he was 80 years old.  He was a prominent businessman involved in many community projects including, Hospice, Rotary, Chamber of Commerce, starting school scholarships and supporting businesses and always trying to keep others.

With his wife Pam he enjoyed traveling to many countries the past 15-20 years.  Africa was their favorite of all of their travels, and they had several opportunities for more than one trip to explore this beautiful country.  Together they also started the Hospice Motorcycle Ride that was successful in raising funds for many years.  Ken also enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, Sudoku, Fox News and especially cooking in the kitchen with Pam making a big batch of soup!

Ken is survived by his wife of 54 years Pam; by his children, Paul (Dee) Betsinger, Steve Betsinger, Sybil Betsinger and Kristin Betsinger; by 10 grandchildren; by his siblings, Steve (Kim) Betsinger, Jeffery Betsinger, Georgia (Ambrose) Murphy and Patricia (Glen) Wilson and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Cletus and Ellen Betsinger and by siblings, Rose Johnson, Mary Hazelwood and Donald, George, Robert and William Betsinger.
