Paul "Mike" Freid

Paul H. “Mike” Freid, age 82, of Faribault, MN, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019 at the Emeralds of Faribault Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive in Faribault with Fr. Joseph Forcelle officiating.  Interment will be held at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault with military honors provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Organization.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to services.

Paul Harold, the son of Paul L. and Bozina (Jvorak) Freid, was born on April 7, 1937 in Montgomery, MN.  He attended Montgomery High School and graduated with the class of 1955.  Following high school Paul served in the U.S. Army.  On July 23, 1966 he was united in marriage to Rose A. Forcelle at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Faribault.  Mike worked for 42 years at the Ford Assembly Plant in St. Paul.  When he was younger he enjoyed bowling, boating and waterskiing, driving his Harley Davidson motorcycle and hunting in Wyoming and Colorado.  He also loved animals and had different pets over the years including dogs, cats, squirrels and raccoons.  He enjoyed sports and supporting the local teams especially the Twins, watching western movies with John Wayne as a favorite, putting together puzzles, was an avid reader and playing card games like cribbage and poker.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Rose Freid of Faribault; by four children, Sherri (Jim) Snow of Faribault, Wendy Bluhm of Faribault, Kelly (Randy) Anderson of Lakeville, MN and Randy Freid of Owatonna, MN; by 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren; by his siblings, Robert Freid of Maplewood, MN, Shirley Jeno of Montgomery, MN, Don (Pat) Freid of LeSueur, MN, David (Nancy) Freid of Cleveland, MN and Carol Freid of Montgomery, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ellen Dudley and brother, Harry Freid.
